Description

UNDER CONTRACT! Welcome to Gregorie Neck Plantation, tracts 3 & 4A, which encompass over 551 acres of breathtaking and diverse landscapes. These two remaining tracts feature towering stands of mature pine, serene hardwood sloughs, ancient rice fields, and extensive frontage along the beautiful Tulifinny River. Wildlife food plots are abundant throughout, creating a nurturing habitat for a variety of game and songbirds. Purchased by The Nature Conservancy in early 2024, an easement was placed on the entire 4400 acre Gregorie Neck peninsula, protecting it in perpetuity. These tracts will be safeguarded forever under the vigilant stewardship of the Open Land Trust and the new owners, part of a significant initiative to maintain the health of the Broad River watershed for generations to come.

The Battle of Tulifinny was a military confrontation in the American Civil War, taking place from December 6 to 9, 1864, on the site of Gregorie Neck’s Tract 3 during Sherman’s March to the Sea. Despite being outnumbered five to one, Confederate troops under Major-General Samuel Jones, which included the complete cadet corps from the South Carolina Military Academy, effectively defended a crucial stretch of the Charleston and Savannah Railway against Union attacks. This battle was notable for being one of the few instances where the United States Marine Corps engaged in combat during the war.
